With Jersey now confirmed as one of our opponents for next season perhaps Ewart would like to tell the story of The Falcon RFC and the plane crash at Elmdon Airport? I'd be interested to know where the name Falcon came from and which former Moseley players were bowling aircraft wheels down the runway afterwards!
Good article in last weeks MM on the war memorial. Keep up the good work.
We thought Penzance was exotic, wait till we go to Jersey. Do they do Pasties there? At least they have a good choice in team colours. Trouble is I will probably spend the 1st half of the game trying to sort out which team I am supposed to be supporting if I am still jet lagged from the flight. Looking forward to it though.
For a National One side they seem to have a good supporter base with the average attendance figure quoted in the BBC article at 2164. Pity we can't match that at Billesley, although I suppose Jersey aren't competing like we are with the round ball game (despite the quality of which from some of our local teams being questionable this season!).
The Jersey away fixture looks like it'll be an expensive do, flights on saturdays are prohibitively expensive, so it looks like it would be cheaper to go out friday and back sunday am, which then means 2 nights hotel. either way it'll restrict attendance to a lucky few. maybe the club will put a charter flight on.................. ok I know.... will be waiting for the fixture list 2012/13 with interest.
Flybe have now published their Winter timetable i.e. November to April. Flight out to Jersey at 8.15 on Saturday with return on Sunday at 16.05. Cheapest economy fare is around £95 return. (Fares for October are more expensive, and September even more so).
