Canal Walk and Family Fun Day Out
Saturday 30th June 2012
Come and join us – experience the wonderful Warwickshire countryside and help raise money for great causes:
New this Year, by popular demand, as well as the full 22 miles walk, we are also organising a 10 mile and 5 mile walk for those who want to take part but want a shorter version. The idea is that all the walks get back at about the same time, so we have staggered the starting times.
Three walking options:
9.15am start: 6 to 8 hours – Stratford to Billesley;
[/li][li]Shorter 10 mile
12.15pm start : 3-5 hours – "The Boot" @ Lapworth to Billesley;
[/li][li]Short 5 mile walk
2.45pm start : 2-3 hours – "The Bluebell" @ Earlswood to Billesley;
[/li][/ul]
Post Walk BBQ

Canal Walk and Family Fun Day Out
This is a "tried and tested" annual event and caters for walkers of all abilities. The club (and friends) have successfully raised many thousands of pounds over the last few years for our chosen charities and Moseley 1st XV players and coaching staff have promised to support the day, so why not come and join them?
It is a great day out walking along the canals from Mary Arden's house, just outside Stratford, to Yardley Wood bridge (over the road from the bus garage), which is about ½ mile down the Yardley Wood Road from Moseley Rugby Club.
It is a very enjoyable way to spend a few hours and also a great way of raising money for worthwhile causes.
It is anticipated that the first ones back will be at Yardley Wood Road at around 4.00 to 5.00pm. You will be met again by mini-buses who will take you back to Moseley Rugby Club where there
will be a barbeque and of course the bar will be open for those who haven't had enough. Lee, Dave and Paul will obviously be the last ones back to make sure everyone has arrived back safely.
When you get back, meet friends and family. We are having a barbeque and there will be entertainment for the younger ones, a bouncy castle and no doubt many tales of woe from the walkers. You don‟t have to do the walk, just come and enjoy the day and meet the players and coaching staff, plus all the walkers.
The Charities we are supporting
Moseley Rugby Club has again teamed up with:
“Cure Leukaemia” charity based at the Centre for Clinical Haematology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
“The Moseley Rugby Community Foundation” based at Billesley Common providing sporting and healthy lifestyle services to Birmingham's School Children.
Last year we raised over £3000 for Cure Leukaemia and £2000 for the Moseley Rugby Community Foundation. Our charities are both worthy causes so please collect as much sponsorship as possible.
Sponsorship Opportunity
You will be given a t-shirt to wear on the day and maybe a baseball hat - we are hoping to get a sponsor, anyone interested please contact Lee Evans (contact details below).
Itineraries
There will be service vehicles that will follow us on our route and they will stop not only at the pubs but also at convenient points (18 in total on route) and they will be contactable by mobile phone if needed in an emergency. They will also have water on board, although you can always top-up at one of the pubs.
Lee Evans, Dave Warren and Paul Bracken will act as last men to make sure everyone is Ok and no one is left behind (especially in one of the pubs).
Please bring your filled in sponsorship forms on the day so that we can work out roughly what we have raised for the Charities.
For all walkers!
Please bring: Drinking Water, a light snack, sun cream, sun hat or waterproof jacket (if the weather is a bit dodgy).
Please wear: good shoes and sensible clothing.
Please don't let/leave anyone to walk on their own
If in doubt: call one of the drivers/marshals (contact details will be issued to all walkers)
