I think it is the recent history of fixtures between the two in that they rearly play each other on a Saturday at 3PM. In the play offs last season, i recall our away leg at their place was on a friday night. May have been tactics to affect our plans to have a weaker side, if those who are not fully pro could not get off work early. If so we appear to be returning the favour or if i am not a cynic may be an attempt to get a bigger crowd than saturday but we have discussed this before on here.
I echo bobbrown. Fridays are not good. For those of us who travel a reasonable distance just getting to Birmingham after work is a nightmare! Also had no-one the foresight to think about the weather? A look at a weather site shows that Friday at kickoff time is forecast to be below freezing. Saturday at 3pm, 7 degrees! If this is a tit for tat decision, I would have hoped Moseley were above that!
Still, I will be here watching for the updates, & praying for a healthy Moseley win. But I would prefer to ber making use of my Season ticket & watching the game!

Moseley aims to even the score in entertaining fashion

Moseley welcomes Plymouth Albion to Billesley Common under floodlights this Friday evening (27th January, 7.30pm kick off) with a score to settle. With Moseley’s recent try scoring form it should also be an entertaining encounter.
In the reciprocal fixture at Brickfields early in the season Plymouth edged the match late in the game with a penalty try after the visitors were deemed to have collapsed a scrum. However the Moseley pack is much stronger now with all front row squad members challenging for first team places.
The Devonians have also won six Championship games to Moseley’s five and, as each win earns a point in the relegation playoffs, a home win would even that up as well.
The Billesley outfit has recently been as generous to the opposition in defence as its attack has been prolific. Four tries were scored in both recent matches against in-form sides Leeds Carnegie and Rotherham Titans but similar numbers were conceded with lapses in defence.
Moseley lies in sixth place in terms of Championship points scored but rock bottom in numbers of points conceded. This may make a great viewing for the spectators but does nothing for the number of wins or the defence coach’s blood pressure.
Both Moseley and Plymouth have difficult end of the season run ins where wins will be hard to come by. Moseley’s final games include away trips to Bristol and Cornish Pirates with Bedford at home while Plymouth will entertain Nottingham at home and travel to Bedford and Esher.
Moseley’s form has not been at its best at home this season so this week will be a massive opportunity to provide the Moseley Faithful with confidence that the players have the ability to retain the club’s Championship status. Whatever happens, it is bound to be entertaining.
Really looking forward to Friday. It might be that we will see some of the injured 1st 15 coming back which will help get them match fit before the play-offs. Being optimistic though, if we have a really good ened of season and results by other teams go our way, we could finish in the top eight. What a dream. Being as it is a Friday night game some of the regulars may not be able to make it so those of us that do will have to make as much noise as possible in support of the Lads. See you on Friday. Pennycook Returns for Moseley

After two matches with plenty of plaudits but no rewards, Moseley take on fellow League strugglers Albion in what should be an intriguing contest tomorrow night. There is a lot at stake, as both sides will be hoping to make a strong statement to take into the Pool C play-offs.
In the first match at The Brickfields Moseley had victory snatched away from them, perhaps a little unluckily, in the dying moments of the second half. This time they will hope to hold their nerve a little longer.
The side is largely unchanged from that which lost in a high-scoring encounter with Rotherham. One significant difference to the starting line-up is the inclusion of Chevvy Pennycook in the back-row at the expense of Michael Maltman who moves to the bench..

RUPERT FREESTONE will make his first Championship start tomorrow (Friday) night when Plymouth Albion travel to Moseley (7.30pm).
The 20-year-old hooker, who is in his third season at Brickfields, comes in for the suspended Gareth Evans, who has started all Albion's previous league matches this term.
Freestone for Evans is one of three enforced changes for Albion Friday.
Also unavailable for the trip to Birmingham are number eight Herbie Stupple and winger Tyson Lewis.
Dual-registered forward Stupple has been recalled by his parent club Exeter Chiefs, while Lewis is struggling with a neck injury.
Their places are taken by Canadian World Cup star Aaron Carpenter and Tongan international Sione Tu'ipulotu, who will be making his first start for Albion since returning on loan from Worcester Warriors.

Good to see Chevvy back (surprised he's listed at 8 and Ellery at 7) and Greg amongst the replacements. Hope I'm not tempting fate - but what happens if Caveman gets an injury?
Then Quigley takes over as he did against London Welsh, with O'Donnell coming on. Has it been decided yet whether he is Anton or Anthony ? Just hope there's plenty of excitement to help us keep warm.

What a spirited performance to keep them out in the second half in those conditions. Although one or two tackles were missed in open play our defence at close quarters was top class and when our subs came on we carried on in the same vein and finished strongly in their 22 which we had not visited much during the second half. This will give the team great confidence for the play offs. PS we won 9- 3
