Back Row experience backed by Birmingham Moseley

Director of Rugby, Adam Balding has today confirmed the re-signing of three experienced back row players for the coming season.
Will Safe joined the club in 2021 from Championship outfit Hartpury. Prior to his time Will played for Premiership side Gloucester. Taking on the role of Captain in his first season his powerful style of rugby bode well for a significant season.
Unfortunately injury in December curtailed his contribution after just twelve appearances. The road to recovery was long with Will’s next appearance for the club being deep into last season when he came off the bench against Darlington Mowden Park in February.
It’s a testament to the man’s determination that it looked like he had never been away from the squad, quickly re-establishing himself as one of the first names on the team sheet. With an ability to play across the back five of the pack, Will also offers vital versatility to the forwards.
Mid-way through last season the club made one of its most high profile signings of recent seasons when former Wasps back row Ben Morris decided to join following the demise of the Coventry based Premiership club. With many clubs in the higher leagues interested in a player of Ben’s pedigree, it was a testament to the future vision of the management team that Ben decided to opt to come to Birmingham.
From his first game in November against Cambridge he stood out as an exceptional back row player with a tireless work rate and an ability to be in the right place at the right time. As well as pulling on a red and black jersey for the first time Ben also had the honour to don the famous black and white hoops of the Barbarians in his first game for the invitation club. To have retained a player of Ben’s calibre is a real boost for the club, and a worry for opposition back lines.
The third back row re-signing is a home grown fan favourite with a point to prove. Morgan Dawes re-signed for his home club last season from London Scottish, however a serious knee injury during the summer saw Morgan frustratingly going through the whole season in rehab.
Morgan broke into the 1st XV squad in dynamic fashion during the 2019/20 season cementing a place in the match day squad, not least due to scoring a hat trick in only his third appearance for the team against Cinderford. The bright lights of the capital lured Morgan to London Scottish, however his heart never left Billesley Common as he parachuted in, during a time of need, on loan to be instrumental in a vital win over Blackheath.
You can bet when the team next takes to the pitch Morgan will be one of the first to run out and will not stop running for the full eighty minutes as he brings his trademark dynamism and enthusiasm to the team.
With the addition of these three high quality players to the already announced quartet of Ollie Stedman, Suvwe Obano, Jack English and Batsirai Zindi the biggest headache management will have is who to select out of such a richness of talent.

We managed to see Will back in action towards the end of the season after making a full recovery off the back of the long-term injury suffered against Cinderford away in 2021. Will is a consummate professional with strong leadership qualities both on and off the field.
His work-rate and physicality he brings around the game sets the tone for the team. A pleasure to work with and we look forward to having him fully fit ahead of what is going to be an exciting year ahead for the club especially as it's the 150th year.
It's fantastic to see Morgan nearing full fitness, last year was such a long road back for him after suffering a horrendous injury but the hard work he has put in with the medical team and the work done away from the club really shows the character and determination of the man.
His work ethic is immense, the dedication shown is always unquestionable especially wearing a Birmingham Moseley shirt where his style of play certainly inspires those around him. We are all excited to see Morgan getting back to wearing red and black.”
