Today Birmingham Moseley Rugby Club announced the addition of a new player to the 1st XV squad along with the departure of a current player.
Former Worcester Warrior Jack Forsythe comes to the club with a reputation of a player on the rise in his rugby career. As part of the Warriors Academy Jack has rapidly developed his playing skills, earning a call up to England U18, along with impressing in outings in the Premiership Cup before forcing his way into the full Premiership match day squad at the end of last season. Adept on either side of the back row Jack brings yet more versatility to the squad.
Unfortunately, Tom Benjamin has decided to step away from rugby at National One level due to work commitments. Tom has made twenty nine appearances for the club over two seasons, but with the demands of a growing career developing hospitality venues and the challenges of maintaining the high performance standards National One rugby a pragmatic decision for the future had to be made.
Director of Rugby Adam Balding said “We will be very sad to see Tom leave Billesley Common as he had brought an exciting attacking style of play to the full back jersey. It is totally understandable that semi-professional rugby players are faced with difficult decisions on how to balance two roles, and there must always be consideration to the development of long term careers. At the club we always try to work with players to best support a workable balance, but we fully respect Tom making this hard decision and wish him all the best for the future.
“I am confident that the addition of Jack brings even more strength in depth to the pack, and makes the competition for back row places in the match day squad even more intense, I am excited to see how he will make an impact on the squad.”
With fly half Jacob Fewtrell, back row Will Safe and second row Max Ayling all now available for selection following long term injury we enter 2023 with a strong squad, vying for match day places.
