I was saddened to hear a few days ago that Tim Hardwick had died following a protracted battle with ill health. I knew Tim best as coach to our Colts team circa. late 2000s - early 2010s. This coincided with a period where under his guidance we reached the National Colts’ Cup 1/4 final & semi final in successive years, a testament of his exacting standards and abilities as a coach. Some of the players involved went on to represent our 1st XV; for example, Caolan Ryan, Dave Brazier, Mick Stephens, whilst several others are still actively involved in rugby at local clubs.
We also enjoyed some great tours, notably Parma in Italy and, closer to home, a hilarious weekend in the West Country (we stayed in a pot-holders bunkhouse.)
Others around the club will remember Tim as a rugged prop, proudly representing our 1st XV and his beloved Royal Navy.
My thoughts, I’m sure shared by all at the club that knew him, are with Tracey, Toby and Tom and their wider family, at this difficult time.
Simon Bartlett.
From information taken from our friends at Bromsgrove rugby club, the funeral is at Waseley Crematorium, New Inns Lane, Rubery at 11am on Friday 13th January. Followed by a celebration of Tim’s life at the Bromsgrove clubhouse. Any donations, to Primrose Hospice, Bromsgrove, in Tim’s memory would be gratefully received.
