Adam Balding is excited to announce the signing of vastly experienced, high profile back row forward, Ollie Stedman from Bedford Blues.
Ollie, 6ft 3ins and 17 stone can boast 140 appearances in The Championship, scoring 38 tries, along with spells in The Premiership at Yorkshire Carnegie and London Welsh. Ollie’s career as a professional began at Carnegie having come through Leeds Tykes Academy. Ollie also represented England at under 20 level.
Bringing Ollie to The Common is a massive coup for the club, having played for some of the most successful teams in The Championship including Ealing Trailfinders, Doncaster and, last season, Bedford Blues.
Following a period out of the game through injury, Bedford were quick to take advantage of his keenness to return to competitive rugby and brought him to Goldington Road as soon as he returned to full fitness, where he featured in 17 of their 20 games last season.
Throughout his time in the Championship Ollie has been known for his rampaging ball carrying and the offloading skills he brings to the game. Birmingham Moseley already have a back row unit that is extremely effective and the addition of Ollie will strengthen it even further.
As challenging for promotion is the target for the club this season we are delighted that Ollie has chosen to join Birmingham Moseley. With his skills and experience on the pitch he will have a key part to play in making this happen.
Ollie Stedman said "I am really excited by the new challenge coming to Birmingham Moseley offers me. I see this as a club with real ambitions to progress further. When I last played at Billesley Common the new stand was being built but not yet in use, so it's great to see how far the club has moved on. I know in National One you have to have a strong forward game and I think we have some big lads who will be very competitive. It’s clear Balders has been assembling a squad with real strength in depth.”
Director of Rugby Adam Balding said of his latest signing “Ollie comes to us off the back of a fantastic career in Championship and Premiership rugby. It is great to have someone of his calibre join the club and highlights the ambitions we have for the future.”
