For those not travelling to Rotherham on Saturday (14th Jan), why not visit Billesley for Moseley Oak's Midlands 2 Fixture.
Moseley Oak v Lordswood Dixonians - 2.15pm ko at Billesley (1st XV pitch)
Moseley Oak are looking to bounce back in their first home game of the New Year this Saturday at Billesley Common.
They play Lordswood Dixonians and are looking to banish any nightmares left over from a 72-5 scoreline at Stoke last match out, albeit a side set to go undefeated in the league and meting out heavy beatings to most opponents.
Moseley Oak will be buoyed by a comfortable win in the annual fixture against Moseley Colts in the final match of 2011.
Highlights can be found at
And they will be encouraged by the closeness of the first meeting with Lordswood Dixonians at Portway.
Moseley Oak lost 29-10 but it was amidst a spell of defeats as the promoted team took time to adjust to a new division and were missing a number of key players.
If Moseley Oak can sort out various injuries from the Stoke game and get a few absentees back, then there is every chance that result can be reversed.
Chairman John Richards said: “This is in many ways a consolidation year for Moseley Oak.
“Prior to the Stoke match, which we just have to erase from our minds because they are the division’s outstanding side, we had won five out of six including some excellent away successes.
“Midlands Two West North has some quality players, many of whom have either experienced a higher level or are good enough but prefer to stick by their mates.
“We too have some excellent performers, many of whom are former Colts, one or two being eyed by Moseley first team as possible squad contenders of the future.
“Hopefully this will become an established route for Colts looking to make the full Moseley side – a year or two of gaining experience, building muscle, learning the adult game … and then, if good enough, making the step up.
“As a club we need more strength in depth and I would say to Colts in their last year and indeed anyone thinking of joining – this is a good standard, you will be amongst friends and you will enjoy your game. We have ambitions to go up at least another division – come and be part of an exciting progression.”
Coach John White added: “I would urge all Moseley supporters to come along this Saturday, cheer the team on and be entertained.
“Moseley Oak is a hard-working and attacking side with talented three quarters and committed forwards. We will do our best to play flowing rugby and deliver a victory.”
Kick off is 2.15pm on the 'main pitch'. Free entry
