Director of Rugby Adam Balding today confirmed five of last season’s prop forwards will be returning for the new season.
Joe Foreman joined the club in 2019 and has made forty six appearances at loose head. A renowned scrummager, Joe also brings a degree of versatility, having been able to move across the front row to cover the hooker position when necessary.
David Langley signed for the club on a permanent basis in 2021 having played 6 games the previous season while on loan from Coventry. Former Wasps man David adds a strong ball carrying capability to the tight head shirt.
Ethan Priest had an excellent second season for the club in 2021/22, having spent a significant part of his inaugural season developing his craft while out on loan. As well as his scrummaging prowess in the number 1 shirt he has developed a strong game in the loose and with ball in hand.
Jide Ajayi was unfortunate to see his first season with the club cut short by injury after nine very promising appearances. The young tight head has been working hard to regain full fitness for the new season and we can be sure he will be making his mark on the team in September.
The fifth member of the front row quintuplet is one of the most senior members of the Birmingham Moseley squad, James Tideswell. James has now made sixty nine appearances for the club over his five seasons in red and black. Always one to give a solid platform at scrum time James is also key in carrying out the, usually unseen, essential work in defence around breakdowns.
Adam Balding said: “I am delighted that we have been able to retain five high quality prop forwards. I believe we had one of the best scrummaging units in the league last season and I am confident we can continue to build off the solid platform they give to our game.”
