BBC inform us that a directional vote meeting on Friday will look at creating a rehashed 2nd level potentially made up of "hybrid" Premiership second teams and "aspirational" Championship teams. So that'll be 16 or so Champ teams who'll be joining the queue I guess. On the other hand if, say, some Champ teams are not aspirational enough to meet the rigours of meeting Prem 2nds we may well see a revamped Nat 1 with the less assessed (?) inspirational Champ teams joining us. I could well see say, 5 Nat 1 teams moved down a level? Any thoughts? I believe the final decisions will be made for 24-25 season.
Ring-fencing of course. The idea is clearly that an 'A-Team' wins the league which, obviously cannot be promoted, and hey presto, no relegation. I wonder who thought that one up? Perhaps the money men rather than the old f*rts.
No relegation will kill the Premiership and probablt rugby in general in this country..
The real answer is to have smaller squads with the better players spread through the divisions with some actual RFU support. A thriving game all the way down the chain would be healthier for the Premiership, England and all in the game.
Time for a new governing body methinks. This one is totally discredited.
If this were to happen it would have a large impact on availability of loan & dual-reg players in Nat 1 & Nat 2. They are trying to change it to such an extent that it's just going to end up completely broken.

If such a system had been in place 30 years ago quite a few of the clubs advocating such a change may not be where they are now. I hope the likes of Exeter remember how they got to the top tier and make sure others do not allow the ladder to be pulled up. I cannot think there would be much passion in the stands from watching the likes of Newcastle A v London Irish A. France seem to operate a better/heathier system where more money flows down the league pyramid. Who are the favourites to win the 6 Nations this year?
It’s been a rancid situation for years, basically the RFU couldn’t give a hoot about anything below Prem and now look at making a Prem 2, laughable. It’s time in my view for those in Nat 1 and below to break away, it’s not like the RFU bundle cash into the lower divisions.
