Birmingham Moseley front up for the new season
Adam Balding has confirmed the first retentions of players who signed for the 2020/21 non-season with five front row players committing to the club.
Prop Joe Foreman established himself as a key member of the squad in his first season at the club, having joined from Birmingham & Solihull, making 23 appearances. Joe will be looking to establish himself as first choice starting loose head this season combining strong scrummaging and mobility in the loose.
The club is pleased to confirm that David Langley, who played 6 games in 2019/20 for Birmingham Moseley on loan from Coventry, will be pulling on the red & black jersey as a contracted player this season. In just a few games for the club former Wasp tight head David impressed all at the club with his power and ball carrying abilities.
Pushing Joe Foreman for a starting shirt at loose head is England counties prop Ethan Priest. Limited to only three games for the club in 2019/20 and having been out on loan to Bromsgrove and Gloucester United for most of the season Ethan will be keen to make his mark in the 1st XV squad and deliver on his undoubted promise.
The fourth prop confirming hid future to the club is Jide Ajayi who again signed up for 2019/20 but had no opportunity to display his ability at tight head. A product of Moseley Oak it will be particularly pleasing to see another player progress through the club to the first team.
The last of today’s front row announcements sees a player of immense high level experience at tight head return as James Tideswell looks to add to his 46 appearances over the last two seasons. With Premiership and Championship experience at Yorkshire Carnegie, London Welsh and London Irish, James will be as vital for the squad in his ability to pass on knowledge to the younger players as he will be for his rock solid scrummaging and defence.
Adam Balding, Director of Rugby said:
“I am immensely pleased we have five quality props agreeing to stay with the club this season. The blend of youth and experience is exciting and bodes well for Birmingham Moseley being very competitive in set piece play, while also fielding strong ball carriers”
