Moseley Knights (Academy) 21-31 Camp Hill 2nd XV
An entertaining game with Camp Hill doing a good job of starving us of ball that limited our opportunities. When we got some, you got the feeling we could/would score….but if anyone wants to see a Mose side that runs at every opportunity……….this is the team!
Can understand that an academy team generally will be under pressure against more experienced scrums, and hence you play to your strengths and attack. Will not be surprised to see the Knights win big against a few sides this season – particularly when it’s dry and the oppo forwards aren’t at the top of their game.
Perhaps a big boot to gain territory a few times might have helped…but you can’t fault them for effort and desire. Tackling and defence was also generally pretty good, especially in the opening quarter where getting hands on the ball was difficult. Camp Hill picked their runners well – generally both big and fast that tested our defence many times!
Even towards the end with 2 scores in the game and time running out, we were running it out of our own 22 and really wouldn’t have been surprised if we’d gone the length of the pitch a couple of times in a couple of minutes!
Well played Knights……….plenty of skill, desire and effort.
