PHIL NILSEN of Leeds Carnegie tonight appeared before an RFU Disciplinary panel at the Coventry Holiday Inn for charging in to a ruck or maul, contrary to Law10(4)(h), in the RFU Championship match against Esher Rugby at Molesey Road on November 19. The player pleaded guilty to the charge.
Following the hearing, Nilsen is banned for two weeks and is ordered to pay costs towards the hearing. He is free to play again on December 15.
The Panel comprised His Honourable Judge Sean Enright (chair), Bob Taylor and Peter Howard.
Moseley flanker Neil Mason also appeared before the same Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel after being cited for making contact with the eye or eye area of Bristol captain Iain Grieve, contrary to Law 10(4)(m), during the RFU Championship match against Bristol Rugby at Billesley Common on November 5. Mason pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Following consideration of the verbal account Iain Grieve submitted and the DVD evidence, the citing was dismissed.
