It is a shame about that strip. I think for the first couple of minutes I was supporting welsh and wondering why they had someone who looked just like Stotty playing for them - until I realised!
On another note I hear the proper kit will arrive this Friday along with the replica kit. I understand that swapping to a new supplier it was going to be tough to get it here for the start of the season. Think the club will have lost some revenue - think we would have sold more kits when the mood was so bouyant pre-season. Most of us got caught up in it and rightly so. Really looking forwards to the rest of the season though. Come on mose!
p.s. Steve Gibbons was excellent on the Saturday night. More bands after the game please Bill! Beats x factor! Lets get Aiden the folk guy back from some half time entertainment too. And a kicking competition too.
The current strip is awful and not moseley at all, I know that John was not alone in supporting welsh at the start, that seemed to catch alot of people out. As for the proper kit being in on Friday, that has been said too many times in the past for me to believe it, they said at the start of the season it would be the end of september, now it is friday. I refuse now to believe what they say in the shop regarding replica kit as it never turns up when they say it will, they may only be saying what the suppliers have said but it still never turns up.
Is there not some confusion over whether the supplier is Canterbury UK or Canterbury of NZ? The two are separate entities with the former heading into administration not a couple of years back. I believe the scale of the operations are completely at odds with what we would think i.e. that Canterbury are not the worldwide brand they once were. Also, was the current deal not negotiated with a certain former front row forward? I'm assuming we will be claiming some form of compensation back for lost revenue?
Professor the kit supplier is Canterbury of New Zealand - paragraph below was taken from their blog. "Moseley Rugby Club are pleased to join forces with Canterbury of New Zealand, as they become their exclusive kit supplier with immediate effect. Both parties have agreed a two-year deal that will see Canterbury provide all 1st XV playing kit and casual wear, as well as official club merchandise. Canterbury are pleased to supply a successful club that features every weekend in the top 12 games of club rugby in England."
i) the team plays in indistinct "third" and "fourth" strips ii) the long standing shirt sponsor misses out on exposure in any press coverage iii) the supporters become frustrated and iv) the club misses out on much-needed income
the kit "supplier" has the clearest and brightest advertising hoardings pitchside.
