BRIDGNORTH 14 – MOSELEY OAK 37


In perfect playing conditions and a good playing surface, Moseley Oak earned a bonus point win against a committed Bridgnorth side.

Early exchanges were evenly contested. After 14 minutes, a scrummage in midfield led to a pick-up by Mike McGuire and a break by right wing Dai Evans. He was supported by Greg Cox who put Rob Holden in to score.

Further Moseley pressure led to a converted penalty followed by a further Pons effort; 11-0.

After 30 minutes, Moseley scored the try of the match. Captain, Jack Richards, caught a Bridgnorth kick near touch on his own 22 line. He beat his opposite number on the inside and made a searing break up the middle of the pitch. Around 65 metres later he was tackled 8 metres short, offloaded to Nash Maphosa who passed to Greg cox who scored. The try was converted as was a penalty 8 minutes later after a strong run from Adrian Courtney.

The 21-0 Moseley Oak lead was pegged back early in the second half after Bridgnorth pressure and a succession of conceded penalties.

Moseley worked hard to get back up field and a missed drop goal attempt was taken by Pierre Meniuer. The ruck produced fast ball and Jon Perks put Charlie Meddick in for a converted try.

Further Moseley Oak pressure led to a converted penalty and then a charged down Bridgnorth kick led to a further converted try.

A defensive mistake led to a Bridgnorth try and a final score line of 37-14.

A good performance and much more needed next week at Billesley v Silhillians in the most important game that Moseley Oak have played in their history.
