MOSELEY OAK 29 – SPARTANS 7

Moseley Oak kept themselves at the top of the table on Saturday 9th March with a convincing win over a well organised, physical and talented Spartans team.

Moseley absorbed early Spartans pressure and after 7 minutes a solid set piece in the midfield saw fast passing to the right for Jon Perks to put Dai Evans in on the right.

Moseley had to rearrange after a head injury to Harry Griffiths with back row forward, Charley Thomas, joining Captain, Jack Richards, in the Centre.

Losing Duncan White to the sin bin just before half time was a potentially tough 10 minutes; however, Moseley Oak rallied and scored 2 tries during that period. The first by Dan Toth after a series of forward drives and the second by Jon Perks after Dai Evans passed out of the tackle.

Charley Thomas claimed the fourth and bonus point try with a powerful run from the centre while Mike McGuire scored the last down the right touchline after a pacy counter-attack showing excellent hand skills.

Four matches to go and one point ahead of Silhillians, who have a game in hand.

Moseley Oak’s next fixture is a tough one, away at Leek on the 23rd of March.
