Best of luck today. I know its a friendly and of course that means loads of changes during the game but it the start of what we hope is a great season.
Pam and I will be there. Phil Hall. Come on Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooose.
Quite pleased with that. Now makes a total of 82 points in 2 games. Hope everyone agreed the new P.A. system helped with the overall atmosphere. It will be better when Lee is back to give his commentary. Lets hear what you thought. We want to get it right.

It was a great atmosphere today Ken. The music was good, the volume was spot on I thought. Clearly guitar based rock music is not to everyone's taste but I think it is the kind of thing that gets the players going and suits the kind of setting we're in. As I've suggested before, Des O'conner, and Vera Lynn just ain't going to do it in my opinion. By the way as I understand it most of the music today was chosen by the players. It'll be nice when Lee is back so we can all appreciate the commentary and we will all be able to hear it.
Agree with Gerald the fish in some respect. Atmosphere was good, no doubt about that. The music could have been better though and the volume was far too loud, certainly in the main stand where I could not here myself think for the boom, boom, boom of some of the music?? And what is wrong with Des O'connor and Vera Lynn. At least you can sing along with then. You can't with most of the modern rubbish. We need a better mix. We already have Pavaroti with the Moseley rally so why not some 60s music - Elvis, Cliff Richards, the Shaddows, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Queen, Ella Fitzgerald, Abba; and what about Vivaldis four seasons or some Acker Bilk or Nat King Cole or even, dare I say, some classic FM.
By the way a good performance by the players and I loved the one spectacular backs move which nearly came off. Come on Moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooose.
Moseley carried on where they left off last week, but the pack operated better. Considering the new team is supposed to be built around more expansive backs the 1st pushover try harped back to the "good old days" based around an all conquering pack. And we didn't stop there, we pushed them around all game. Consequent control led to the centres/backs getting quick ball and they did the rest. It was good to watch. It wasn't a perfect display by any means but what I liked was the fact that when a mistake was made, they seemed to know and react to ensure it did not happen again. Early on in the second 1/2, such a mistake led to an Aberavon try. The team went back behind the line for the conversion and the captain "took them to task" in no uncertain a manner to remind them that the game was not yet won and would be lost if they carried on like that. They responded positively, withstood the pressure being applied by Aberavon and went on to win. I also liked the fact that for 2 games in a row they worked solidly for the full 80mins. That did not happen quite a few times last season. Notts next week which may prove more demanding, even if Notts don't put out a 1st XV side. But it is "only" a friendly and should and will, I am sure, be used as such, trying out combinations etc, although wouldn't it be nice to say "We won at Franklins Gardens". I am sure the Squad feel the same. The 1st real test though will be at Bedford. Lets hope our initial promising start continues and Moseley can once again become the team every one dosen't want to play against rather than thinks "here is an easy 3 points". The lads that stayed at Moseley this season will remember that last season most of "top" teams had the latter mind set and we turned them over. Lets hope we can do it as a matter of course this season. How's that for optimisim, but I have seen many more positives than negatives so far, the main +ve being attitude, obviously being instilled into the boys by Maggsy and Dave Hilton (cann't think of a nickname for Dave, Hiltony doesn't sound right, Hilly?? sounds a bit up and down), and, there also appears to be quite a bit of hard work and skill coming into the equation. Can't wait for the real rugby to start but as usual having to. My usual cry "Be vocal don't just watch" The team appreciates it. Come on you Mooooose.
Re the new PA system I think it could perhaps do with being about 70-80% of the volume at half and full time and maybe only rack it up fully for the player entrances to the field. We were just the other side of the stand for the most part - the speaker on the far floodlight was sounding slightly "buzzy" at the higher volumes. Massive improvement on previously though!
StudleyKen, just a few small points. 1. You might want to double-check who play at Franklin Gardens 2. The only way to be a three pointer is a draw with 4+ trys.... (don't worry we knew what you meant!)
Our last trip to Saints was a painful one, I think particularly for Stotty from what I remember!
Hi Rich. I meant Northants not Notts and it's my fat fingers that caused the problem with 3 points. I'm also very excited!!! Will we see you at Saints? Think the penguine video is great.
