Birmingham Moseley announce the first new signings of the 2021/22 season and its double trouble for National One opposition.
Sam McNulty makes the short trip from local rivals Coventry to take his place in the Moseley front row. The hooker comes off the back of a very successful time at the Championship club being named the young player of the season for 2020. Sam only converted from back row in 2019, upon joining the development team from Broadstreet.
Sam will bring impressive mobility into the Birmingham Moseley front three curtesy of his back row experience, which earned him a County call up by Warwickshire and saw him appear at Twickenham in the Bill Beaumont County Championship Final in the no7 shirt.
Making the somewhat longer journey from Ayr in Scotland is Sam’s younger brother Isaac McNulty a hard running centre. Isaac, who can also cover fly half, will bring a further goal kicking option to the team.
Isaac moved to Scotland in 2019 from Coventry. While in Scotland he played in the top tier of Scottish rugby outside the Pro12 as part of the Ayrshire Bulls who are one of the 6 new franchises set up as part of the FOSROC Super6 league.
The sibling rugby links do not stop with Sam & Isaac, remarkably there is a third McNulty, older brother Josh who played Premiership rugby for Harlequins & Gloucester before moving to Nottingham last season. Truly a talented rugby family.
Both Sam & Isaac are well known to Birmingham Moseley Head Coach Pete Glackin who coached them at Coventry College. The signings demonstrate again the club’s commitment to build a squad with Midlands’s rugby talent at its core.
