The September Draw of the 300 Club has been held and the results are:
£150 - P C Bailey, £75 - Kevin Doyle, £50 - James Jowett, £25 - Barrie Thorndyke, Stephen Sheridan, Martyn Cowley and Tony Bertram.
As always, congratulations to the winners, commiserations to all others and grateful thanks to all 300 Club members for your fantastic support.
That was the last 300 Club draw to take place under the direction of MPA Treasurer George Walters. The first was in November 2006 which, by my reckoning, means that George has been responsible for the successful draws on no less than 167 monthly occasions, a truly remarkable record.
During that time, George has diligently, professionally and, with complete transparency, completed each draw, written all the cheques, filled in all the forms informing the winners of their success, written all the envelopes and posted the forms and cheques to all the winners.
He has also maintained the accounts of the 300 Club, provided the MPA Committee with regular updates of income and donations and, from time to time, advised the Committee regarding those donations plus any proposed changes to the prizes and any other matters relating to Club 1873.
With the support of all 300 Club members, George has, therefore, been instrumental in ensuring the financial wellbeing of the Colts Teams, more recently, the BM Academy and, very occasionally, other BM sections in times of dire need, resulting from the donations that the MPA Committee has been able to make, thanks to the success of the 300 Club.
I am sure that all 300 Club members will want to join me and the rest of the MPA Committee in thanking George for his unstinting dedication to the 300 Club, without which the recipients of the donations would have been a great deal poorer.
I should add that George is continuing in his post of Hon. Treasurer of Moseley Players Association, in which capacity he has served diligently and professionally, not just for many years, but for many decades! Academy Chief Simon Bartlett takes over the running of the 300 Club in October.
