Moseley have a solid looking team, particularly pack, even without Buster. James Williams looks class above to me & kicking so so important.
I thought results went for Moseley last week; despite leaving us still in drop zone. It has really tightened up & couple of good wins will move us to top 6..ish.
I have been to Rotherham a few times, on & off coach. Good place, always liked those few steps of terracing & thought Mose you do that to Billesley when our gates reach 5,000 every game. Cant make today. Enjoy & come back with a win please.
So winner on 54 minutes in second half. So far I haven't read as to explanation of "record"(?) overtime - though I realise is was still just 40 minutes of rugby played -any news on that ? I could ask - was our time wasting tactics so obvious, but I won't.
Also, its worth visiting Titans site to hear after match comments from Collin in the match award presentations (Beanie got MBRFC's award).
According to the Rotherham supporters web site Moseley were still in front at 14 mins into injury time. However, Moseley had a player sent off within the last ten minutes and the opposition scored, just like last week, only this week it cost Moseley the win.
Without being at all negative - I am trying to remain positive for next season - but I keep sensing a Nation League 2 finger beckoning. Perhaps if I resign myself to the drop I will be really pleased if it doesn't happen rather than disappointed if it does.
Seems a lack of info here about the match yesterday, so here goes:
It was a very dull afternoon (and almost dark by 4pm when we finished) with a wind which appeared to favour Roth in the first half but was gusty and difficult to fathom.
Roth scored early, and (worryingly) too easily. Mose scored the first of their catch and drive tries fairly soon afterwards, and in all honesty not a great deal else happened in the first half apart from a couple of dubious decisions by sir, most notably a very brief knock on advantage for Roth which saw us scrumming 10m further downfield than where we ourselves had knocked on! The Roth fans were incensed.
The packs were well-matched but Mose appeared to just have the edge. We defended some driving mauls strongly, achieving a turnover on our own line in each half. Our scrum and line-out was strong and (I believe) all 3 of our tries were from kicks to the corner (7 tries against Roth this season by Moseley Hookers!).
The final play was disappointing. Mose had gained a 6 point lead (too many points lost from the tee, unusually) and Roth restarted. They failed to make 10m and we had a scrum in the centre at more or less the end of the second half - I think the clock said 42m although there had been some injuries. Rather than retaining possession until the end (a la the Ian Smith regime), we stacked the left side with backs and ran a strike move to the spacious right - something went awry and a pass went backwards to the floor, to be gathered up by Roth. There was some heroic defence around the 5m line and repeated penalties with the home side opting for scrums, which we rarely let them move, not always legally!
Bean saw yellow from an infringement in the loose and we were in deep trouble from then. Roth spread it wide to the right and appeared to have scored, only for some heroic Defence (J Williams?) to hold up the ball despite significant odds against it. We were taken back yet again for penalty advantage and after a few phases Roth danced through a gap to score under the posts, with the conversion (and single point win) a formality. Ironically the effort that was held up a few minutes earlier would have been harder to convert (but probably still would have been).
There was some unpleasantness from our usual suspect in the front row both after the winning try, and again once it was converted and the game ended. I can only assume he was trying to force the ref to continue the game by awarding Roth a penalty restart from the centre in the hope we could turn them over...
All in all a very considerable improvement over our last away game at Cinderford and we gave a lacklustre Roth a fright. You only have to look at their home record to see this was always a difficult fixture, but it was undoubtedly one that got away.
Still one of my favourite away destinations and reasons to be positive.
Let's forget the "injury time" nonsense. What happened was that the ref played to the laws of the game, i.e. he could not blow for no-side until the game was ended by a non-penalty event, such as a knock-on, forward pass, the ball going out of play, or a score.
Moseley were leading 20-14 at 79 minutes. Roth restarted, but failed to clear 10 metres, so it was our scrum on halfway. What do you do, should you try to run down the clock by taking the ball into contact and recycling until the clock goes red, or do you start a move in the backs that might go wrong and turn over possession? Yup, for reasons unknown, Mose did the latter and Roth got the ball with the potential to win with a try and conversion.
And that is what they worked hard for, and we could not stop them legally, as far as the ref was concerned. So there was penalty after penalty, Roth camped on our line, our defence putting in a supreme effort to hold them out but getting pinged for it. And in the end Lewis Bean was given a yellow card, and Roth finally crossed the line. The conversion was successful and we had lost.
James Williams may be reflecting on his missed kicks (2 pens and 2 cons, he kicked one of each). He shouldn't, that wasn't what lost us the game. He had a good game otherwise and the swirling wind made kicking difficult. No, the decision to take the ball wide after that scrum was the decisive action, and whoever made that decision needs to play that over again in their heads.
Game management 101 should be the subject for Tuesday's training, everyone agree?
CJB1 mentions game management and I wholeheartedly agree with him that when it comes to stuffing it up the jumper and running the clock down Moseley do not have the first idea. I recall one game earlier in the season where Moseley were in front with moments to go and what did they do? They kicked the ball away, the opposition ran it back, scored and won the game. And if they do the same on Saturday then they deserve to lose not only the game but also the loyal supporter as well.

Say no more.
Quite clearly not a “loyal” supporter then are you nobby? Take your negativity elsewhere please.
And of course with teams from the top 4 visiting Billesley Jan and Feb we 'gunna need that there support.....reduce errors, focus, end early try forfeiting, confident game plan.....easy really for Prothers,Ossers and the team.
Tombola...how many points will we come away from fixtures up to 16:45 16.2.19 home and away? Mine's 11....
Ironically, while our 5-point win the previous weekend still left us in 14th due to other results not going our way, the single losing bonus from the Roth game *has* moved us up one place, ahead of Esher. We're still only 5 points behind 9th and 6 points behind 7th place. It remains very tight. Keep hold for a rollercoaster ride ...

That scrum we had after the restart imo we should have either done pick up at no.8 or kick to the corner and put pressure on their lineout. Got to remain positive and make the `The Common ` a fortress for our remaining home games. Come on Mose...........
Now there's a thing Richard. For years and years I have always thought "kingsheathlad" was Ken because he lives in Kings Heath - and I have often talked to Ken about your emails but he has never put me right. I'll try and put a face to you name on Saturday.
