Birmingham Moseley Rugby has announced today that two great servants of the club will be moving on.
Hooker, Adam Caves leaves having generated a number of personal achievements and club records.
During his time at the club Adam made 368 appearances for the 1st XV, 82 more than the previous record holder in the professional era.
He began his career with Moseley Rugby at mini and junior level, chalking up 17 seasons at senior level, his first league appearance being in the 2000/2001 season.
Adam has also achieved England representative honours at both Under 21 and Counties level.
Truly it is the end of an era for the club as he is the last of the EDF Cup Team to play for Birmingham Moseley. Adam was Club Captain in 2016/2017 and also won the First XV Player of the Season and Players, Player of the Season awards in 2008/2009. Adam picked up the Lionel Moriaty Golden Boot as Supporters Player of the Season in 2011/2012.
The other stalwart and supporters favourite leaving the club this season is centre Greg King.
Greg joined in 2011 from Worcester Warriors and made 128 appearances for the club over 7 seasons. He has represented England at Under 20 level and was a member of the Championship Team who beat Canada 28-23.
He captained Birmingham Moseley during the 2016/2017 season and was voted Players, Player of the Season in 2013/2014.
Greg didn’t have the best of luck and would have made many more appearances in red and black if it were not for suffering numerous injuries over the years. His dogged determination has seen him always bounce back more resilient than ever.
Both players always gave 100% to the Club both on and off the field. Both are well respected and firm favourites of the supporters.
They had a massive impact around the club providing invaluable experience particularly in recent seasons when young players have joined the club.
Whatever they decide to do next we wish them both every success for the future and thank them for their commitment to Birmingham Moseley.
Director of Rugby, Richard Protherough said:
"Adam has been an outstanding loyal servant to Birmingham Moseley Rugby Club and his appearance record in the professional game is fantastic. On behalf of the club I'd like to give my thanks for his efforts across 17 seasons and wish him all the very best for the future."
"Greg is another great servant to Birmingham Moseley, always leading from the front and never taking a backward step. An outstanding player on the pitch and we will certainly miss his hard hitting tackles and incisive runs."
