Many of us have been to quite a few away matches now, and something that I've noticed at a few grounds with PA systems and announcers (no, they don't all have them), is that when one of the home players scores, their name is announced, along with the name of their sponsor. This strikes me as a potential selling point for player sponsorship, so will Lee be giving sponsors' names along with the scorers tomorrow?
One club, I forget which, even had the Sin Bin sponsored, appropriately enough by a firm of solicitors!
Hmmm ... no thanks. I understand the principle, but this is the sort of thing which needs to be done very well or not at all.
I quite enjoy the confusion around who scored from that maul in the far corner, with a name correction announced shortly after, but throw in sponsorship corrections as well or - perish the thought - forget a mention and it all falls apart.
I presume the free programme for season ticket holders is to extend the reach of advertisers. That'll do for starters.
