North Midlands Shield draw made
Former North Midlands Cup winners Camp Hill and Malvern have been paired in this season’s North Midlands Shield quarter-finals.
Camp Hill, who won the county cup in 1980 and 1994, progressed to the last eight by beating Edwardians 77-7 in their first round tie.
They will now have home advantage against Malvern, county cup winners in 2002, in a tie that is scheduled to be played on or before October 3.
The other North Midlands Shield quarter-finals will see Old Saltleians entertain Moseley Oak, Kidderminster Carolians Shrewsbury and Veseyans have home advantage against Harborne.
Once again each of the three North Midlands trophies will have a Plate tournament for sides beaten in the early rounds of the main competitions.
That proved a successful innovation last season and extended the involvement in clubs in county cup competitions as well as increasing the number of teams involved in Finals Day.
In the North Midlands Cup Plate Whitchurch, who were beaten by Hereford in the first round of the Cup, will have home advantage against the losers of the Newport v Dudley Kingswinford first round tie.
Worcester Wanderers, who lost to Bournville in a league and cup double-header last Saturday, will host the losers of the second round Cup tie between Bournville and Bridgnorth.
The draw for the North Midlands Shield Plate is: Old Yardleians v Clee Hill, Stourbridge Lions or Woodrush v Evesham or Ludlow, Cleobury Mortimer v Ledbury. Bye: Oswestry or Droitwich.
