We are very sorry to report that Tony Love died peacefully on Friday 3rd July.
As many will be aware, Tony, a former Moseley player, long-standing member of the MPA and a great supporter and lover of Moseley Rugby Club, had suffered for twelve years from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a degenerative brain disorder, which he bore with amazing courage, determination and dignity.
Despite his ever worsening condition, Tony continued to watch 1st team home matches as often and for as long as possible from Box 6, the MPA's hospitality box, although that was no longer possible last season. However, an undoubted highlight of Tony's last few months was his visit to the new function room and stand on the occasion of their April opening, from where he watched the Plymouth match and was greeted by so many of his friends who were attending the MPA Reunion.
The funeral details will be announced here when they are known and, in the mean time, the condolences of all at the Club and in the MPA go to his wife Sue, son Rob and daughter Becky, all of whom supported him so wonderfully throughout his dreadful illness.
The funeral of Tony Love will be on Wednesday 22nd July at 11.45 am at Knowle Parish Church, 1717 High Street, Knowle, Solihull, West Midlands B93 0LN. This will be followed by a private cremation.
All attending the funeral are invited to join Sue and the family afterwards at The Forest Hotel, 25 Station Approach, Dorridge, Solihull, West Midlands B93 8JA.
