As one player starts his Moseley career another looks to extend his record
Moseley are pleased to confirm the signing today of Wales U20 centre/wing Rhys Williams from Leicester Tigers and the return of Moseley’s holder of the record for most appearances, hooker Adam Caves.
Wrexham born Rhys played a key role in Wales Under 20’s Six Nations campaign this season playing in four games including an impressive win over England. Williams joined Leicester Tigers Academy following a period playing for the North Wales development team RGC1404. During his time at Leicester he gained Championship rugby experience as a dual registered player with Doncaster Knights, playing against Moseley in November.
With appearances for the full Leicester team in the LV Cup & Premiership 7s Rhys will bring another attacking threat to this season’s backline.
As Williams starts his first season in red and black Adam Caves commences his fifteenth with the first team. As a product of Moseley’s youth development programme Caves is one of a rare breed in Professional rugby, a player who has spent the majority of his playing time at one club.
Last season Adam’s sixteen appearances saw him become the clubs record appearance holder with 298, a number he will be looking to stretch even further. With the recent retirement of Neil Mason & Ollie Thomas, two other long time servants of the club, it’s a record that could well never by eclipsed.
The two players represent the blend of youth and experience that will help steer Moseley forward on the pitch in the same way the new banqueting and conference facility is doing off it.
