Moseley are please to confirm the first two new signings for the 2015/16 season. Both players are from Wasps and both former Billesley Common favourites - Glyn Hughes and Buster Lawrence.
Moseley recently opened a new stand and banqueting suite which is anticipated to bring further income streams online. This will enable Director of Rugby Kevin Maggs to build a squad to challenge the upper echelons of the Championship – Hughes and Lawrence will play a pivotal role in this development.
Fly Half Glyn Hughes made 33 appearances for Moseley between 2011 and 2013, scoring 150 points, initially as a dual registered player from Northampton Saints. Having opted to join Moseley directly in 2012 Glyn subsequently moved on to pursue a professional contract with the then Leeds Carnegie club before moving to Wasps last season.
Supporters Player of the Season 2012/13 Back Row Buster Lawrence returns to the club after a season with the Premiership outfit following a very successful loan spell at the end of last season, which saw him add a further 8 appearances for the club to his previous tally of 51. A very versatile player Buster offers the ability to play in any position across the back five of the pack, and brings with him excellent ball carrying abilities.
The signing of both Glyn and Buster from a Premiership level club is a clear indication of the level of rugby Moseley can offer to players and also the aspirations the club has for the future.
The club are equally as excited to confirm a number of last season’s squad who will be returning to Billesley Common. Prop Tom Warren missed a large proportion of the campaign through injury but made a return to action in the last Championship game in Jersey. Tom is joined in the front row by hookers Scott Tolmie, former Moseley Colt Jack Lea and prop Simon Gardiner.
Behind the scrum wingers Scott Armstrong, Drew Cheshire and Louis Roach will be fed ball by last season’s Championship XV centre Greg King.
The club expect to announce a number of further signings and re-signings in the near future.
