Whilst they won by a large margin, I wasn't particularly impressed by Newcastle when we played them at home. They bullied us upfront but I don't recall any decent attacking play from their backs. We're are better placed to counter them in the forwards now and should be raring to go following last week's cancellation (and a spare weekend next week).
Personally I'll be interested to see what team Kevin and Dave pick. Do they risk our 'best' team (potentially the 15 due to start against Bristol) or save some of the key players for matches where we have a greater chance of victory.
I would'nt blame Kevin if he put out a token team this time but with the rest last week and another next week I would admire him if he went for it and put out the full 1st team. Give them a runout and go for it. They are good enough to cause a surprise!!!!. Come on you Mooooose.
I would go with the strongest available side and then use the bench as required. We don't need to rest players given that our last game was 29 Jan and the next will be 2 March. Plus, a thumping defeat will not be the best preparation for the Donnie game.
I'd agree, though the message "don't do anything stupid" should still be issued. Not that this should mean shirking tackling duties or keeping clear of the breakdown.
I would put a full team out. Who knows there could be repercussions from the RFU if Moseley intentional field a weak team for a championship league game. What it would also say would be that Moseley were running scared and just don't do that at Moseley.
When I played for Moseley the opposition - usually the second or third team of the opposing club on the day - inevitably strengthened their lower team at the expense of their first team - unless the opposition first team were also playing Moseley. And why would they do that you might ask? It was because the desire of the opposition to beat Moseley, any Moseley team carried more street credit than anything else.
In my playing days anyone and everyone wanted the distinguished honour of beating Moseley, any Moseley team. Not many did but if they did it was rarely by a big score.
So come on Moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooose. Remember Leeds at Twickenham. Send your best team - I know it will mean that I might not get a game - but go and give the Geordies something to think about.
I am planning to drive up and back to watch the game so i hope the best side available is selected and they do there best. Bristol were 1/9 on to beat Mose 28th Sept 2012 and look what happened then. I had a tenner on Mose to win that night the same may happen again With Newcastle. Tryers can't be criticised.
