DAN NORTON is fourth on the all-time list of England Sevens try scorers and aiming to lift a third successive Dubai Sevens title this week.
The IRB's Sevens: Uncovered film crew went behind the scenes with the former England Under 20 wing at home in Bristol and training at Bath University ahead of the second leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series.
England missed out on the quarter finals at leg one, the Gold Coast Sevens in Australia, but Norton and the team have been working hard on and off the field ahead of one of their favourite tournaments.
Norton, who has scored 90 England Sevens tries, splits his week outside tournaments between training in London with the squad and on the track and in the gym in the Westcountry with the English Institute of Sport. He relaxes walking dogs Rufus and Marbles on the Bristol Downs.
"Dan is quite naturally gifted," said EIS coach Ed McDermott. "He's got the genetics but he also puts in the hard graft to keep improving. He doesn't rely on his natural speed; he works on it."
England now face South Africa, Samoa and Portugal in Pool C in Dubai on Friday, with the knock-out stages on the following day, as they aim to bounce back.
“The first tournament in the Gold Coast didn’t go as well as we would have liked, we stuttered a bit," said Norton.
"We went in quite confident and we were in a good shape of mind but defensively we weren’t very good. We’ve been looking at that and were looking to improve on that and come Dubai – we'll sort that out.”
