I wasn't at the game but on the basis of the highlights it looked likes the backs took their chances very well, as at Blackheath. On that basis a good balance between a dominant pack and good pace and handling in the backs. Now if we could only match (for example) Chinnor's rolling maul/catch and drive we'd be perfect, we just don't seem to have that in our armoury compared to many of the opposition teams in the league.
The 3 games I’ve seen, it’s very evident that the pack are somewhat smaller than the opposition, not that that is a bad thing, but it does make their afternoon more difficult, especially on the back foot. Our lads always give 100% and you can’t ask for more, agree could do with a couple of ‘biguns’ to stop some of the tactics opposition sides have identified and seem to stick to. However, it would seem Adam has got the guys going, even with a long injury list, so I’m looking forward to more good wins.
I thought the Chinnor highlights will be an excellent and ongoing training video for years to come because viewing the way that Chinnor set up their superb catch and drive from behind the pack and scored is priceless.
I have said before that in my inexperienced view driving mauls are difficult to stop at the best of times. I also feel that a line-out catch and drive maul is harder to stop than a loose play maul simply because the formation of the former can be practised to perfection on the training ground.
Look how quickly Chinnor, almost before the catcher has landed, transfer their line-out catch into a formidable set piece scrum formation; a place for everyone and everyone in their place; AND with the ball at the back of the scrum; AND often before the defending players have had time to organise their defence. With this solid platform to work from the line-out catcher can keep his eye on the ball carrier, keep his set piece together and control and direct the point of maximum pressure depending how solid or loose the defence becomes. It is, without question a team skill that only be learned from constant, constant practise but when it is perfected, as Chinnor so skillfully demonstrated on Saturday, it is a joy to behold and almost impossible to stop - legally.
So come on Moseley. Build on the undoubted forward domination and line-out stability you demonstrated on Saturday. Have confidence in yourselves and those players supporting you. And take encouragement from us supporters as well yell and urge you on and transfer all that collective energy into a positive result.
As ever, come no Mooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooose.....ly.

Caldy also had a very effective driving maul in the games against in league and pre-season. Unfortunately in games I have seen this and last seasons we seem to spend too little concerted periods in opposition 22 or 5 metre to put a driving maul into practice.
10 shots for the run up to Tom Benjamin's try but I was running out of light for Isaac McNulty's try. I must thank Phil Worrall for leading me through how to post these photos.
