Agree with you - good to see everyone is fit. I actually thought Sam Pointon had a great game and his speed of service was excellent. Was hoping our newest signing Levi would have featured in the squad.

Sad for Ben but good for touch judge who brought the incident to the attention of ref, who may have missed it from his position behind the play. Working together. Another good result 8 out of 10...Great late try from Aquile, so little room, so little time, so decisive! Well done all, fewer knock ons, good coaching from the line. Great win, early season so mistakes can be forgiven but the team seem to be gelling well, Sad news about Ben Palmer, hope recovery goes well, the perpetrator needs a severe punishment. Especially as we are still semi pro and Ben will struggle with that injury to do his job.

The touch judge recognised the foul play and the referee brought play back for a penalty some minutes later. Well done touch judge, well done referee.

Have a look at Dingle's photos - HC54028 shows the ankle at an odd angle, and he was in obvious pain in the subsequent frames.

Well folks. Who would have predicted 2 wins from the first 2 home games and both wins against good, well coached and well organised opposition. And did anyone notice Blackheath introducing the new 50:22 law at least twice - once in the first half and once in the second half. With the kicking team getting the line-out throw in there will no doubt be those teams possessing an effective catch and drive option exploiting that option at every opportunity and we all know how difficult it is to legally stop a well organised line-out catch and drive. Fortunately on both those occasions Blackheath did not score.
The Moseley line-out catch and drive yesterday, along with their scrum based driving maul, was much better than of late. It wasn't perfect but it was encouraging and certainly gave the hefty Blackheath pack something to think about. By contrast the Blackheath forwards had a very effective pick and drive which, coupled with their 'on the shoulder' support player gave Moseley many problems. But Moseley defended well as, in my view, some of that 'off the shoulder' ball transfer fringed on subtle forward passing, but that is just my view.
Once the Moseley team gel together even more and form both driving mauls much quicker - particularly the catch and drive - AND, just as important, improve on defending against both, then Moseley, with their speedy backs, will be well on the way to becoming a force to be reckoned with.
Yesterday the backs didn't have quite the showcasing opportunities they had last week mainly because the Blackheath backs - and there were some big Blackheath lads there, along with a dangerous number 11 who scored an excellent try - kept them occupied. That aside Sam Pointon left them standing as he scythed through for a try under the post - as did Aquile Smith who danced through hands clutching air to score near the posts. It was Mason Tonks last week and Aquile Smith this week who scored the match winning tries which lifted the roof off the stand. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant.
What a wonderful start to the new season.
Here's to next week. Pam and I wont be able to travel due to me working but we'll be there, in spirit, chewing our nails - well I will be - and with our eyes firmly glued to the message board.

Yes - it was absolutely great to see real team spirit - lots of on field communication and working together. A really promising performance from both forwards and backs. However, the injury to Ben Palmer rather took the shine off it for me - if he's to be out long term - as is suggested - I just hope we have sufficient cover at No. 10...
I very much hope to be there next week. For those travelling independently, I'm told there is parking but it's a good idea to arrive early...

Feel so sorry for Ben Palmer - let’s hope he is back soon. Does anyone know what injury Harry Barnes suffered? He had a great game against Darlington and he was again on form yesterday. As far as cover at number 10 is concerned we signed Jacob Fewtrell and he looked very good at the training sessions I went to pre season.
