Birmingham Moseley v Cinderford
Jack Adams Fundraiser
Saturday 7th August 2021 - 2.30pm ko

You will be aware of the death recently of one of our former players, Jack Adams.

On 7th August 2021 we will be holding our first warm up game for the 2021/2022 season. The game will be against Cinderford RFC, a club that
Jack also played for during his career. We will be using this opportunity to remember Jack and raise funds for his appeal.

Entry to the game will be £5 which will be donated.

There will also be bucket collections on the day kindly organised by the the Moseley Supporters Association.

All donations are greatly received.

We'll also be showing the final Lions Test in the clubhouse, 5pm ko.

We do ask that where possible masks are worn indoors to protect our staff and visitors. Hand sanitiser will also be available.

Yes the kitchen will be open on Saturday.

Good crowd today which was a fitting tribute to Jack Adams.
Great to see a number of very exciting new players. Despite the loss I came away from the ground feeling quietly confident about the new season. Line out needs some working on but that will come.
Delighted to see Mason Tonks get a lot of grass time so fully expect to hear he has signed.
It seems we may have no army guys playing for us and what has happened to Morgan Dawes?
Cinderford were, as usual, fairly one dimensional as they scored their tries through rolling mauls.

Army players can sometimes be useful but their availability is not guaranteed and in past seasons they've tended not to be there towards the end of the season when we need to make a push. So a bit of a mixed blessing, really.

It was really good to be back on the Common with live rugby. It'll take time for the team/squad, with quite a few newies, to settle but lets wish for a good season in the top half of N1. I reckon a number of N1 teams dont get the kind of gates as in attendance yesterday for N1 fixtures.
So its up to the squad to repay the loyalty supporters continue to give after the recent thin seasons.

Yes, it was good to be back. For the first twenty minutes it was just like we'd never been away - lots of lateral passing with no gain, missed tackles, line out a mess ...

There were some good performances out there and it seemed like a good team spirit has developed already. Cinderford looked far better prepared than Mose, so there is plenty to work on in the next few weeks. Even with the Old Elts sad situation, it will be important to hit the ground running in September.

Other observations include: the 'hospitality boxes looked to suffered the attention of vandals and there is a lot of vacant advertising space around the perimeter. I'm sure the Commercial Team is hard at work.

Yes, really enjoyed game on Saturday. Very decent crowd & good buzz.

Credit to both teams for impressive levels of fitness, very few stoppages certainly for first quarter.

Cinderford were better; although all 4 tries were rolling mauls; it was some last ditch defending that stopped them running in a couple more.

Line out certainly to work on, was beyond poor. Full back looked good & tall, athletic No8 made some good breaks. No9 in 3rd quarter lively & yes Tonks very good, mainly defensively.

Good pre.season work out.

I asked for a team sheet, non available that I saw. tbf team changed each quarter, even swapping shirts on pitch.

A friend who stayed with us last weekend is a Chinnor supporter (yes these people do exist 😂) mentioned that they are running junior coaching sessions with the proceeds going to the Jack Adams Memorial Fund. It is great that there are other clubs supporting this fund.

Quite - a team sheet would have been next to useless given the shirt-swapping and some players being tried out in more than one position. I recognised a few players from a couple of years ago, but there were more that were new. The club website proved useful in identifying a few; there were, however, clearly some triallists not shown even there.

Just back from hols in bonnie Scotland but managed to watch the Cinderford game before I left and although the score went against Moseley that was of less importance than the solid game time the lads had. Cinderford, as expected, had a superb catch drive maul which Moseley could not contain. But what I particularly liked about the Cinderford catch and drive maul was the well oiled process they went through as they set about forming the maul. Each player, from the hooker throwing in, to the catcher and his two support players forming the front row, to the pack behind them they knew EXACTLY what they were doing and where they were going.

The part of match video alone will be worth it's weight in gold because there will be no shame in the Moseley pack practicing that process until the cows come home - that is after they have mastered catching the line-out ball first.

Outside the pack there was some promising three quarters action, particularly in cover-back defence.

You are correct - it is now on their website. I still can’t see anything about Buster on Clifton’s website.
