As part of building a squad for the 2019/20 season Birmingham Moseley are pleased to confirm the signing of a number of local players well known to Head Coach Peter Glackin and Director of Rugby Adam Balding.
As Birmingham and Solihull Rugby Club recently announced the decision to transition to an amateur club a number of last season’s team were looking for the opportunity to continue to play at a senior level.
With an in-depth knowledge of their capabilities Pete Glackin, having coached them for a number of seasons, has managed to ensure that their talent is not lost to Midlands rugby by recruiting them to Billesley Common.
Joe Foreman (Prop): Joe has spent the last 3 seasons at Birmingham & Solihull where he gained a reputation for his scrummaging skills. He was part of the Midland Premier League winning team in 2017/2018. Prior to this he played for Broadstreet and for Coventry in National 1 racking up 74 appearances in the National Leagues. He came through the Academies at both Coventry College and Bedford Blues. Joe also represented The Midlands at under 18 level
Matt Spink (Second row): Matt was an age grade player at Birmingham and Solihull and like Joe Forman was an integral part of the Midland Premier league campaign. A destructive ball carrier and scrummager Matt will bring power to the Billesley boiler house.
Danny Wright (Back Row/Second Row): Danny, a lineout specialist, brings to the club a wealth of experience having played at Gloucester alongside the likes of Jonny May and James Haskell for Stade Francais in The Pro 14. Danny has played over 90 games in National Leagues including 67 with Coventry in National 1. He has represented England at Under 20 level gaining 12 caps.
Michael Stephens (Back Row): Michael will be known to many Birmingham Moseley supporters having come through the club Colts system. Dynamic back row Michael is highly regarded for his destructive tackling. It is exciting to see another product of the club’s development programmes return to the fold.
Jack Jolly (Scrum half): Jack can boast many achievements in his time at Birmingham & Solihull. He captained the side when winning the Midland Premier League title and went on to captain them in their National 2 South campaign. He played in every game, his excellent goal kicking enabled him to amass a total of 203 league points. He made The Talking Rugby Union Dream Team for National 2 and was the club’s player of the season.
Matt Dight (Winger): North Midlands U20 player Matt made his debut for Birmingham & Solihull in their National 2 campaign last season. In a difficult campaign he shone through scoring an impressive 18 tries in the process, gaining the accolade of being their most improved player of the season. Previously he played for Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Harry O’Brien (Full back/Fly half): Formerly a Kenilworth RFC player Harry played the last two seasons for Birmingham & Solihull. Bringing versatility to the backline, Harry also offers a further goal kicking option to the team.
