The club are looking for volunteers this weekend, to help out on the Entrance Gates and wherever necessary with the 7’s Competition, and of course to relieve the team of Lions volunteers who will be manning the craft beers.
If you can spare an hour or two, please let us know. It would be greatly appreciated.
I think the 7's and beer fest should now be written into the diary as a regular event and promoted Feb/Mar. 7's teams need time to organise their squad and beer fest visitors (including CAMRA) often organise holidays around where and when beer fests take place. Well done to volunteers. Club and associates, keep going on this project. The Club grounds are a rare availability of space for what should be a successful plan to continue.

As a thought, could we bid to host a round of the GK IPA Premier 7s and then tie it in with that? They seem to play at a mix of grounds both above us and below us in terms of facilities. 16 Premier teams, 8 open, just had a round at Bury St Edmunds. Beer Festival also needs to go in the relevant CAMRA publications if it didn't this year.

The GK IPA Premier 7s, unsure of what that is. If you were Referring to the Super Sevens Series, Mose won't be able to host it as you need a minimum of 2 great fields. As a person that works at the club, I wouldn't want my players out the back or on the 3G for a tournament, the Loughborough University 4G ripped my boys apart and we won't go back and theirs is better than ours.
As has been stated to the people in charge the dates need to be out before December (most tournaments are already in my diary for 2020) and not clashing with other major tournaments if you want to get top teams. That gives you @ 1 or 2 dates for next summer. If you don't know it yet, 7s is a bloody big circuit. This last weekend saw massive events like Edinburgh, Algarve and we had a team at the oldest tournament in Continental Europe in Switzerland but there were many other tournaments this week. The week before was Amsterdam and London Summer Social, summer social being the biggest single day festival of 7s in the UK, 350ish teams playing, 2 of the biggest tournaments in the World. The week before, Bournemouth, 30,000 people there to play in one of the biggest 7s festivals.
I love the enthusiasm but please take into account the circuit that is already massive and work around it or it'll be a struggle. It's easy enough but the club's struggle will actually be working around the maintenance of the field which is of utmost importance for the following season as well, that's where it gets tough.

Looking back I think I've accidentally conflated 2 different tournaments, and the GKIPA might just be an annual thing at BSE. There was some twitter traffic that made me think it was a round of something larger though.
In some ways, as a non 7s expert/professional I think I'm agreeing with you - which was my point around bidding for a round of something that exists if possible, rather than trying to do our own thing from a standing start.
Totally take on board the whys of how it might not be a good idea - but there again, I'm not afraid to have a "good" idea shot down because then at least I know I've proposed it or it has already been looked at. I'd always rather not take the view, in a club like ours where so much has to be done by volunteers, that absolutely everything has been looked at already because I'm acutely aware of how many plates some people have got spinning!
I think if everyone kept their head down and assumed that someone at the club had got it covered then we'd actually suffer. If the answer turns out to be "we've got it covered" rather than "good idea but we haven't got the bandwidth so can you run with it" (I'm NOT offering here to organise a 7s tournament but more generally) then so be it but you won't know until you make the suggestion.
If we need to go back to the drawing board, or as a social tournament then so be it. I'd still like to actually go so hoping it happens next year!
Yeah, the GK IPA was the first leg of the Super Sevens Series, they couldn't find a sponsor for the whole series but as Green King is from Bury St Edmunds they covered it. A leg of the Series that will never be replaced as that is the club of the the Owner of Samurai.
Like I say, it can be done, but work around the current established circuit. I have a couple of days that I really struggle to find a tournament every year, pick those days and you are on a winner because all the teams are in the same boat. To work around the beer festival, on the field will be a struggle.
A couple of things worth noting here if anyone is going to help with the tournament. We often travel 2-4 hours to a tournament, a close one is an hour, so for players drinking is not even considered. We know most tournaments only have junk food, players won't eat food unless we bring it ourselves because it is all unhealthy unless we are told in advance. Those things won't effect Mose as much as most other clubs because we are very fortunate to have the MSA, and wow, they will be happy to drink the players share of Booze but something worth considering for another source of revenue on the day because no other tournaments seem to listen that we want healthy food and drink and as a result we take our own every week.
That being said, my boys that were not coming to Switzerland thought they were going to miss out on playing 7s that day. It was great to have something I could afford (hahaha, I'm bloody broke, can someone please sponsor the boys) as the 7s circuit gets very expensive. The boys loved the day, many of them have come through the Mose ranks either through college with me and or the colts and loved to be back at the club for the day, some from the Stunts have featured for the 1st team in the last couple of years as well. They loved the support from the club members and MSA and having seen many of the messages of support and encouragement on our Social Media I and extremely grateful to you all for that support and being as welcoming to my boys as you have been to me.
