The season's not quite over yet, but we already know the identities of some of the new teams in the league.
Coming down from the Championship are our old mates Rotherham, still playing at Clifton Lane. The clubhouse is very traditional with good beer and a nice pie, the stand is small, the pitch a bit undersized and balls occasionally fly out of play into the street below. But the Roth fans are friendly, and I'm sure we will look forward to entertaining them and to visiting their humble abode.
Coming up from National 2 South is Cinderford. One or two of our players have played there, I think. From what I can tell, their ground is close to the town centre, and appears to have a clubhouse, maybe a small stand, and plenty of parking. Has anyone been there before, especially recently, to report on what we may expect?
In National 2 North, it's close between Sedgley Park, who we will remember from level 2 a few years ago, and Sale FC, the club that remained at Heywood Road when Sale Sharks went on their travels to Stockport and ultimately to Peel Green. Sale are currently 1pt ahead of Park with a game in hand, so let's assume that works for them. Heywood Road appears to have stands either side and boxes at one end. Parking appears to be a bit cramped, but it's a short walk from a tram station. No idea about the clubhouse and what facilities there are, again reports from recent visitors would be good.
They will be joined by the winners of a playoff between Sedgley Park and Chinnor RFC. Chinnor are just off the M40 near Princes Risborough, Park are up in Whitefield near Bury. Anyone want to share experiences of these clubs?
