Recruiting the 2017/18 Birmingham Moseley Squad
How our supporters can help
Dear All,
I'm looking forward to becoming the new Director of Rugby for Birmingham Moseley Rugby Club in the 2017/18 season. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Kevin Maggs for his work over the last seven seasons and I am very pleased he is signing off leading a team that is winning the majority of their games.
Due to the relegation from the Championship to National One last season, we are now looking at a blending of our playing squad between full time and part time rugby players.
Talking to players both in our current squad and potential signings for the coming season, there are a lot of players looking to transition from full time rugby to combining rugby with a professional career / apprenticeship.
By being able to offer players assistance in finding jobs we will help to secure our best players and attract new signings by offering both a rugby contract and a potential career opportunity.
I'm reaching out to you to see if any of our members, supporter and old players could help in facilitating players find jobs in the local area?
Personally, I have found hiring sports men and women into my business extremely beneficial. They bring a wealth of transferable skills and attributes, which increase the chances of them being successful. Here are some of the key attributes rugby players can bring:
- Hardworking (you don't get to the top of any sport without a strong working ethic.
- Team Player
- Competitive
- Resilient (used to the ups and downs of professional sports)
- Adaptable (used to a fast pace, changing environment)
Should you feel you can help with this initiative please contact me via email on richard.protherough@moseleyrugby.co.uk - I have seen this scheme work superbly for Richmond, helping them get promoted to the Championship. As the second city's team I can't see any reason why we cannot emulate this.
I look forward to seeing you at the ground and thank you for your support.
Kind Regards
Richard Protherough
