What a game, considering The Pirates are one of the best teams in the Championship and likely to be contenders at the end of the season for promotion we showed we have steel in the team, well done lads onwards ad upwards!!!
Wow! I know you lucky people have gone to see this game but me from a far is a result out of the blue! To see this result makes me so proud, it shows that they can battle it out against a very good side! Can't wait to read any report, it will be nectar! Come on the MOSE!!!!
Unbelievable start to the season. I saw passion, self belief, commitment and tries. Bar a couple of errors and a missed opportunity, we were the better side and should have won!!!!!
Outstanding today. This level of commitment must be kept up and, if it can be, this could be the best season for years. Let's hope that Messrs Maggs and West can keep this up. They clearly have got the beginning of something here.
We really should have won that - not that I am in anyway disappointed with our overall performance and the way we stuck at the task. Too often we've seen Moseley squander second halves and take a thumping, whilst today we dished out a bit of a second half thumping by winning it 15-3 (two tries to nil). A tremendous team performance well worthy of the applause and cheers at the end.
Now build on today for next Saturday at home against Nottingham, and then away to Doncaster (after the Pirates bounce back against them next Sunday). September may not be too bad a month after all.

Absolutely outstanding Mose!...Sadly not there, but I can imagine how positive the crowd & more importantly the changing room feels....Really well done. Now build on that!!! 'We' could have a terrific season.
5 mins before half time 5 - 24 down. Pirates really dangerous in open play, they scored 2 out of 3 tries from our attacking positions & ran in from their own 22. Spivey try on half time, really gave us belief & second half only one team in it. Back row superb especially (without Chevvy); have we seen Mike Ellery fit before? What a beast. He picked up their massive no 5 in second half & dumped him on his backside....magnificent.
And the strength off the bench! - there is going to be real competition this year. Greg King looked excellent. Waggy like a man possessed.
Wingers both looked handy & looked like finishers. Carter at 15 was candidiate for MOM, three fantastic, last man tackles two in first half when Pirates could have run away. Andy Reay alway breaks gain line for me & makes things happen - love it.
Now a few hours later......should we be disappointed not to have taken 5 points? better to pick flys when things look good ! Chances missed :- Brad 2nd conversion miss -poor, 5 metre try on their line - someone went in blind side & Ref gave them a try (couldn't see) Too long pass floated forward, when men in line to go in. Jack A - only ordinary? off at half time BUT they missed a kickable penalty late on as well
So enjoy.....never expected, but hoped for a result today. The players have now set the standard, going forward we will expect results.

Their injured player apparetly had concussion. If it was their centre he had some treatment on more than one ocaasion in the first half. I think our try on half time gave us belief and i noticed their hears drop as they went back to wait the conversion. They always looked dangerous with ball in hand in the first half and thier left winger could have scored more than two. I think that was our best performance since the cup final. Looking forward to the same next week.
What a result! Given the strength of Pirates last season, this has made me grin, a lot. I'm more than sad not to be able to make many home games this season. However I shall have my rugby fix tomorrow seeing Leeds take on London Welsh, it is rugby, but just not the same as seeing the mighty Moseley in full flow...
As an aside I hope the injured Pirates player is ok...
Should think Kevin, Craig and the boys have wry smile on their faces tonight. Cracking result, and great to hear it live via radio Cornwall here in Cincinnati , why can't WM do the same? Great effort by sounds of it, may be at last we are going to use the slope and wind.
This was an exellent spirited performance from the lads yesterday and just what Maggs had called for in his pre game comments with the lads responding. The biggest difference from last season though seemed to be the fitness levels and would vindicate the appointment of a full time conditioning coach as we were strong throughout the game whereas previously we have been known to wilt in the last 20 minutes. The slope and conditions were a big factor and I agree with a posting above that the second try before half time to take us to 12-24 was crucial. 12 points down with the slope and very strong wind in the 2nd half to come was always reclaimable and remember Pirates themselves coming back from 19-0 down to win a couple of years ago when there were similar strong conditions.
Pirates have an excellent team and their off loading in the tackle and willingness to keep the ball alive with some aggressive play always made them dangerous. I don't think Pirates played badly, we played well especially with the elements in the second half which was a crucial factor. Pirates will be very good again this season. I'm just glad we got them early and the lads repaid all the work they and the coaches have been doing during the close season! Grear result, well done to all in a cracking match played in a good hard spirit. (Hope the injured Pirates player is OK).
Spoke to Old Prop Steve and he says that Drew is OK,taken to hospital as a precaution because he had a slight lack of feeling in one hand, so good news there.NP
Pirates chose to go to touch a couple of times when they could have slotted the points - I can't help but feel smug that we shoved that contempt down their throats and that it is us that came away with the 4 try bonus and not them!
First, and in a similar vein to the Bristol game last season, a draw is a fine result but a huge disappointment in that by the final whistle, it should be seen as two points dropped - however unexpected that might have been before kick-off.
Second, the overall fitness level was excellent. It wasn't Mose who were running out of puff at the end of the game! Let's not get carried away though - finishing an early season game on a good surface and finishing in mid-winter wet mud are very different things!
Third, there were many strong performances yesterday and good team spirit. The forwards controlled the ball well, the forwards trusted the backs with the ball and the backs didn't let them down. The tackling was generally excellent with Pirates' third try the only real question mark. It was such a pleasure to see the ball rarely being kicked away.
Fourth, let's not believe that anything has been achieved. This will be a long, hard seson and it will require the same application, spirit and skill every minute of every week to reach the positive part of the play-offs.
Fifth, let's be honest about the performances and game plans that will be needed to beat Plymouth, Esher etc.
Finally, I hope this is not the best game of the season at Billesley! It was a thriller and let's hope for many more!
Couple of things though - why does the Pirates match report say the attendance was 806 when Maggs said it was 1200? And whats going on with kit? Has it not arrived?
Great result. We were on top at the end and I really thought we could have snatched it. I thought there more than the 800 or so recorded on Sporting Life?!
My gripe is with the coverage by Mercury and Mail of all things Moz.
A number of the pages on the websites are ancient and it needs a clear out [this applies to most rugby clubs on the site]
Brian Dick was on the Common on Saturday so why is it that our Board has to carry a match report from Cornwall. This is nobodys fault on these pages but surely a Moseleycentric report in the local press should have been filed on Saturday night for all all to read about a very positive result. We were able to read a Bees players comments on their performance in Jersey in the Mercury. nothing whatsover about Moz.
Also notice that Worcester and Tigers are top of the reports/atricles board on the Mercury/Mail web and Bees before Moz. None of these teams are within the City boundary - as far as I am well informed. GET IT PUT RIGHT BRIAN!!
Me wingeing aint gonna change my celebratory mood and I will have to attend my local to continue the celebrations of last night.
Can I ask will the club issue confirmation of the morning - fest World Cup games. In other words, if a number of us turn up at 8 or 9 am [or earlier!!] regularly will there be a guarantee that the doors will be open so that we can enjoy breakfast on the Common..........and oh! of course witnessing England steering towards the Final! ?
You would not believe the number of times I have missed a cracking Moseley performance through enforced absence. I am sure it is not telling me something because Pam and I did go to twickers and saw the lads stuff Leeds off the park. Well, God willing, I'll certainly be there next week so I hope the excellent start will continue. Onwards and upwards. Come on Moooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooose.
