As all readers probably now know, our War Memorial has come home and is now in place adjoining Box 1 at Billesley Common. Work to complete the site is coming along well and will be finished shortly.
So, for the first time, our joint Remembrance Sunday service with Moseley Ashfield Cricket Club, whose members have been wonderful custodians of the Memorial for the last eighteen years, will be held in its rightful place at Birmingham Moseley.
The service will be taken by the Vicar of Billesley Common, Revd. Debbie Collins, who recently visited the site to acquaint herself with the site. At the start of the service, she will re-dedicate the War Memorial and thank our friends at MACC for taking care of it for so long. The service will start shortly before 11.00 am and will follow the usual format after the re-dedication.
Following the tradition established by MACC, a full English breakfast will be served immediately after the service in the Clubhouse, when the bar will also be open. I do need to provide the caterers with a reasonably accurate note of the number for breakfast, although voluntary donations (£5.00 a head is suggested) will be collected on the day.
To reserve your place(s), please reply to this or text me with your name and 'Breakfast required' on 07801 800201. Alternatively, download the details and booking form here and email it to me at the address shown.
I will make this a 'two in one' message and remind you of the Autumn Supper on Friday 23rd November, when Council Leader and BMRC Vice President Ian Ward will recount how the 2022 Commonwealth Games bid was won and how the Games may benefit both the City and the Club. We have managed to keep the price to the 2015 and 2016 figure. The details are too big to show here, so please reply, text or email me to obtain a copy.
