Birmingham Moseley bring in both bulk and experience to their second row.
Birmingham Moseley are delighted to announce the signing of South African,
Brendon Snyman to strengthen their second row.
Brendon, 33, was born in Pietersberg, South Africa. He stands 6ft 7ins tall, weighing just under 19 stone.
He played most of his junior rugby with the Blue Bulls before graduating at The University of Pretoria. Following which he had a short spell at the Eagles before, in 2006, established himself at the Griquas club in Kimberley, where he played for 4 seasons.
In 2009 he went on to spend a year with the Eastern Province Kings before moving on to spend 3 years playing for the Leopards, during which time in 2013, he made 4 appearances for the South African President’s XV.
In 2014 Brendon decided to transfer his skills to the Northern Hemisphere, playing for French side Montauban for a season, before joining London Welsh for the 2015/16 season.
In July 2016 Brendon was appointed player/coach at local rivals Coventry making 13 appearances, his last to be against Birmingham Moseley last December.
Brendon returned to his native South Africa joining up again with South Western District Eagles (SWD) where he made 14 appearances before coming to Birmingham Moseley.
Director of Rugby, Richard Protherough says:
"I'm pleased to welcome Brendon to our squad. We have made do with only 2 specialist 2nd rows in our squad; with Buster Lawrence and Ciaran Moore being able to move up from the backrow when required. With Lewis Bean’s army commitments, it is an area we knew we'd need to strengthen and to be able to add a player of Brendon's skills and experience at this stage in season is a real bonus."
Brendon Snyman says:
“I welcome the return to English rugby and playing for a club with such a great history is something I am looking forward to. Richard has explained how he wants to take the club forward and I am sure I can fit in well and bring my experience to the team. There is a lot of talent at the club which needs developing and I look forward to playing a part in that.”
