So, how's it looking? Well, after 11 games we're in the league position we deserve to be in. Our wins have come against teams below us in the table, our losses and draw against the teams above us. Of the teams we've yet to face, three are below us and one (Plymouth) is above. So we could still improve our position before we face Cov.
Our next opponents, Caldy, have won three games, all against teams now below them in the table. We also face OEs, whose best result against teams above them was a draw with Plymouth, and Rosslyn Park, who are one of only two teams to lose to Fylde thus far. Plymouth Albion managed to draw against both OEs and Rosslyn Park, and lost to Blackheath and Ampthill. They have yet to play Coventry.
Looking at the teams just above us, Stortford play Mowden Park plus three bottom-half teams including Luff and Fylde. For all that Luff have drafted in Tiggers dev players, they still haven't beaten a top-half side so far. Club lost to Stortford, but have done well against the top 4 (3 wins from 4), but surprisingly lost to Esher. They also have to face Luff, plus Caldy (see above), Cambridge, whose higlight has been a win over Ampthill, and OEs.
Still, with a run of three wins behind us and not too many injuries, there's room for a smidge of optimism. Let's cheer the boys on against Caldy and hope for more.
Looking 15 miles east at our neighbours at the Butts Park, they sit atop the table, and appear to be invincible, but have yet to face any of Mowden Park, Ampthill or Plymouth, their nearest rivals in the table. Last Saturday they just squeezed past OEs. Could they be toppled yet?
