Birmingham Moseley Rugby (Club) Academy is looking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and dynamic backs coach to enhance the existing coaching structure within our club activities. As part of our established coaching team you will have a specific remit to work with our exciting young backline(s) helping to ensure that our teams across the 16-20 age range work to reach their full potential.
Complementing and increasing the capacity of our existing club structure, the new backs coach will be fully involved in coordinating and delivering pre-season and in-season practice sessions, pre-match preparation – including input to squad selections, post-game analysis and players’ technical debriefings. An important part of the role will be in mentoring players and providing appropriate and effective feedback. Ideally you will already have a Level 2 coaching award or at least be working towards this level.
The successful applicant should also be keen to support the development and expansion of our Development and Academy programmes with practical and strategic input. Integral to our ambition is for individuals to progress and move forward in their rugby careers and wherever possible to promote from within, this role is an integral connection in the clubs’ development pathway for our young players and coaches. Consequently, the successful candidate will link directly with our 1st XV coaching structure, receiving appropriate support and mentoring from our senior coaches with an aim that you become a Birmingham Moseley 1st XV coach of the future.
Academy training takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, supplemented by occasional ad hoc sessions as required. Matches are mostly played on Saturdays and Sundays but we have an ambition to increase the number of games played in midweek, which would need to be supported.
This role will regularly involve working with players under age 18, it is therefore a requirement that a DSB (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is conducted before appointments are confirmed.
Key Duties will include: -
Supporting the Academy Director of Rugby and coaching team in selecting and preparing teams for match days.
Work with small groups of players at training, delivering coaching sessions as and when required.
Feedback to players on their performance in a positive way and highlight areas of improvement.
Skills & Experience: -
Previous experience of coaching in a high-performance environment.
Level 2 coaching award/ working towards.
Ambition to progress your coaching career.
Excellent communication skills.
Demonstrable record in recruitment of players would be an advantage.
As it is our intention to have someone in post prior to commencement of preseason training in mid-June, applications will close on 27th May with interviews and assessments taking place w/comm 29th May.
Interested parties should send applications, to include a full coaching CV, and current qualifications, to Simon Bartlett, Director of Academy and Development – yd@moseleyrugby.co.uk. For an informal conversation prior to applying please call Simon on 07590 424785.
