We are delighted to announce that we have a very special guest at this year’s Beautiful Big Brash Bonanza Burns Night! Pat Petrie who, with her late husband Andy, organised the first Moseley Burns Supper 41 years ago and subsequently ran the event for about thirty years, establishing it as the most anticipated fixture in the Moseley social calendar, is joining us at next week’s Burns Night so that she can see what all the fuss is about!
Well, the fuss is all about building on the foundations that Pat and Andy laid so effectively for so many years and moving on to provide a packed evening of top class entertainment by the well known West Midlands Fire Service Pipe Band and the Award Winning Burdock Ceilidh Band, the latter ensuring that most, if not all of us, have great fun trying to follow the Caller’s lead on the dance floor!
The traditions of Burns Suppers remain an important part of the evening (but an alternative to haggis can be booked in advance). To allow for the new entertainment, the speeches and toasts will be kept short but, in some cases, our Pipe Band partners will be providing a degree of authenticity that we have not witnessed for many a long year!
Already, the number of paid-up and promised bookings ensures a higher attendance than we have had for as long as we can remember and we are sure that there are many more to come. To allow for people attending the Leinster match on Saturday to further boost the numbers, we have extended the booking deadline to Monday 18th January, by which time, all bookings and payments must be completed.
Tickets are just £35.00 per person or £325.00 for a table of ten (larger tables on a pro-rata basis) and are on sale now from Andy Arnott. Contact him right away at andrew_arnott@icloud.com or 07776 414341. You can also download an application form here Burns Supper 2016 ticket form.doc (28.5 KB), or from the end of this week's 'Moseley Matters', whilst others are available at the clubhouse bar. Forms can also be found in all the usual places at the club before, during and after Saturday’s match and completed forms and payments can be delivered to Box 6 until the final whistle or to Andy Arnott or Peter Veitch in the Reddings Suite after the game.
If ever there was an event to brighten up an otherwise dreary January, this is it! Don’t miss it.
