ACADEMY SQUAD TO FACE MOSELEY
With the Blues playing their first Championship home game of the season against Moseley on Saturday, the Blues Academy travel to Birmingham to take on the Moseley Academy, in their first regular game of the season.
Making their debuts for the Blues Academy are ex-Oakham School prop Leon Patel-Champion, flankers Reuben Pritchard (Market Rasen), and JonJo Fanning (Moulton College and Irish Exiles), centres Harry Hutchins (Saracens and Oaklands College) and Paul Aguele (Finchley and Middlesex U18s), wing James Mellish (Old Albanians and Oaklands College), and at full back, last year’s Rugby School captain, Jack Gibbs. The side will be captained by Aaron Martin.
Blues Academy Director, Denis Ormesher, said: “Our training game against London Scottish a few weeks ago, with both sides fielding large squads, was a great workout for both sets of players. With the temperature above 30°C it was a tough test for both sets of players. We were delighted with our players’ fitness levels and although it took them over an hour to show it, they played some good rugby, and scored some good tries, in the third period.”
“The game this weekend away to Moseley, with a smaller squad, will be a different challenge. Moseley are always a tough side to beat, especially on their home turf at Billesley Common.”
