Womens RFU Intermediate Plate Semi Final
Moseley v Ashford
Sunday 15th March, 2pm kick off at Billesley Common
Moseley Ladies take on Ashford in the RFU Intermediate Plate Semi Final this weekend at Billesley Common
After the league season finished in January the only thing left to play for is the cup competitions. There are three tiers – Senior, Intermediate and Junior which are all played at a national level, with Moseley in the Intermediate level which is for Championship 1 and 2 teams. The ladies were drawn against Championship 1 side West Bridgford in the first round and gave a good account of themselves, losing 32-7 despite finishing the game with only 12 players due to injuries.
This meant the ladies entered the Intermediate Plate and were drawn with a bye in the second round. The quarter final draw was unfortunately a walkover as Altrincham Kersal couldn’t field a side. So that brings us to this Sunday where the ladies take on Ashford who are in Championship 2 South East, the equivalent level to Moseley’s Championship 2 Midlands.
Moseley have been training hard and capped this off with a training game against the University of Birmingham last weekend. It gave the team a chance to put into practice lots of things from training and to fine tune the game plan. There was some very impressive running rugby with lots of tries and dominance in the set piece. The final score was 85-15 with tries from Lauren Dackombe (5), Beks Rothnie (3), Laura Knott (2), Nicola Brown (2), Boe Meaton (2) and Laura Webb, and 5 conversions from Nicola Brown.
Moseley have their strongest squad of the season available for the semi-final and are brimming with confidence. Kick off is set for 2pm on Sunday so come along and cheer the ladies on!
